Well wind forward to Christmas this year and the average Australian family is expected to double this amount to a whopping $341.90 per family, or $1.3 billion across Australia. But the survey found it’s not just the amount of food that’s increasing the average spend at Christmas, it’s also the type of food as more and more families are choosing gourmet selections and at the same time are celebrating for longer.
