“This averages out to approximately $86 per person spent on Valentines Day per person with luxury gifts bringing the overall average up considering lots of people only buy a card or something pretty simple,” said Sam from Gift Of The Month Clubs . “Not that there’s anything wrong with that! As long as both partners are happy,” said Sam.

Travel was the biggest seller over last years Valentines Day with $441.6 million spent; followed by Chocolates & Confectionary $97.8 million and Flowers $90.2 million.

Valentines Day is an important part of the year for florists in Australia because it represents approximately 10% of yearly sales. And the report predicts bigger spending on more expensive premium flower arrangements which will help improve overall sales volume for florists by another 3.4 percent compared to the previous year.

Remembrance Day Red Poppy Flowers

Colonel John Mcrae from the Canadian military was the first to describe the Red Poppy as the flower of remembrance.

Remembrance Day Red Poppy Flowers

Remembrance Day Red Poppy Flowers

The Red Poppy is sold and worn around the country on Remembrance Day in Australia every year on the 11th day of November because it was among the first to flower in the battlefield ruins of Northern France and Belgium in World War 1. And soldiers described the vivid red of the poppy as the blood from their fallen comrades killed and injured on the battlefield.

There are 3 reasons why Australians wear the Red Poppy on Remembrance Day.

1. To remember the dead soldiers laying in Flanders fields.

2. To keep alive the sacrifice made by these brave men and women for today’s freedoms to remind us of the cost of going to war and..

3. A bond between Allied Nations.

The Red Poppy is sold around Australia on or before November 11 every year and is about the same size and color as the Red Poppies growing in Flanders Fields with millions sold by the RSL to raise money for multiple welfare and charitable causes

Valentines Day Gift Ideas For Her

Having trouble finding Valentines Day gift ideas for her?

Well the good news is it’s not really hard if you stick to the standard type of gift, like roses; but if you want something a bit more special this year the message is “don’t give normal”.

Check out these Valentines Day gifts for her.

Valentines gifts for her.
If you’ve got a girlfriend, partner or wife, then you’ve probably given her a bunch of roses, flowers and gone to dinner on Valentines Day numerous times. Which are all lovely things to do, don’t get us wrong, but if you want something a bit different and special we’ve listed a few ideas for mixing the old with the new to give her one of the best Valentines gifts she’s ever had.

Roses. Of course a bunch of roses are perfect for Valentines Day. But what about going the extra mile and buying her a membership to the Rose Of The Month Club. It’s a new type of gift service in Australia originally made popular in the US where members receive a different bunch of roses every month  for 3, 6 or 12 months, delivered to your home or office. A perfect romantic gift idea for Valentines Day that keeps on giving when other gifts are gone and forgotten.

It’s a new gift service known as the flower of the month club in America and now Australia (introduced by Gift Of The Month Clubs) where local florist designers arrange the seasons best flowers and deliver it to your home or office every month for 3, 6 or 12 months depending on the length of membership. The gift of flowers every month, a truly memorable Valentines Day gift idea, don’t you think?

Champagne. What’s Valentines Day without a glass of French Champagne. Well it’s all French if it’s Champagne so we don’t have to say French, but that’s a blog for another time. So back to the story. Imagine if you’re a woman and your partner or husband not only orders a bottle of Champagne at dinner, but gives you a membership to the Champagne Of The Month Club. How do you think she would feel? Granted it’s a luxury gift or the type of gift only celebrities receive, but you only live once, right?

Wine. Most couples will order a bottle of wine over dinner on  Valentines Day at restaurants around Australia, so imagine giving her an envelope with a membership to the Wine Of The Month Club after saying cheers. Plus you get to enjoy a glass or two every month as a couple reminding her of your ever lasting love. It’s a well thought out Valentines Day gift idea your partner will appreciate and something to enjoy together.

The New Cassanova

casanova

According to the Herald Sun there’s a new type of Cassanova romancing the ladies in Australia, and the idea of romance has apparently changed.

A new study claims men think they’re being romantic when they put down the toilet seat, make the bed and do the dishes. And this is being compared to giving flowers, opening a door, sending a love letter or taking a lady out to dinner.

Well at the risk of being labelled old fashioned, we think the new Cassanova is sounding like a case of men are from Mars and women are from Venus all over again.

So what do you think ladies, does the new Cassanova do it for you?
