“Hey Mum, why do I have have to give Uncle John a gift?”
“Because it’s Christmas and he’s your Uncle and that’s what people do,” said Mum.
Well you’re not alone if you’ve asked or thought this before. Groupon Australia conducted a recent Christmas survey with 12,000 people and found 1 in 3 people are planning on buying obligation gifts this Christmas for friends and family.
But why give obligation Christmas gifts if you dont want to?
“Don’t ever feel bad about giving someone a gift”, said Sam from Gift Of The Month Clubs, “No matter how big or small it is; like a flower picked from a garden to a 12 month membership to the Flower Of The Month Club, it all contributes to the abundance of the universe and you will benefit from giving as much as receiving.
But wouldn’t it be better if I just kept everything to myself and didn’t give anything away?
“Perhaps in theory, but in practice no”, said Sam. ”Because the importance of giving and receiving is like the importance of blood flowing through our veins to survive. And what would happen if everybody stopped spending? The world would collapse. So dont think of Christmas gifts or any other type of gift exchange as any type of chore or obligation. Instead, give more than ever before and think of giving as a way to contribute to the abundance of your life and your gift recipients life. Because without giving the world would cease to exist”
Morale of the story. Keep the abundance of the universe flowing in your life. No matter how big or small, remember to give and accept gifts as part of contributing to the abundance of your life and other peoples lives. Because without dynamic exchange the world would dry up like a plant without water
